A day in the sun

Baby laundry on the line

If you were in Halifax on Saturday you know how beautiful a day it was. The sun was shining and the weather was amazing! It actually got warmer outside than it is normally in the house. (OK, so we live in the basement and the temp is normally a cool 18 degrees Celsius... but still!)

Saturday morning we woke up to sunny skies and a deep urge to get out of the house. Stepping outside was amazing. It's funny how every summer, when a day like that comes along, I feel surprised that it can really get nice and warm again. It's like during the winter I get amnesia and can't remember what a warm sunny day is really like. But now those days seem to be back!
This was even a bigger even this year because it was Ella's first day out and in the sun. Normally when we take her out she is bundled up tight and under layers so that no cold wind can touch her sensitive face. Now she was out in the sun with the breeze on her face.

So, we all headed out into the sun for the day. Dave was working on the house, Maya was happily running around the yard and I put some laundry on the line. Then Ella and I walked around the yard, exploring. We touched branches and leaves for the first time! Then I decided that some sunny day knitting was in order so I sat her in her bouncy chair with me.

My outside set up.

For a while I was able to get some knitting done...

Then Ella got a little tired of this whole outside thing...

(Note: The beautiful hat was knit by the amazing Val , the flower is a crocus from the yard. Isn't she my cute little flower power child.)

With a little chair bouncing she calmed down, got tired and fell asleep

So, inside she went, to have a good nap after all the excitement.

Later we had a friend over for our traditional backyard summer BBQ. Even the new upstairs tenant and her children came down to join us. It was a wonderful day. Isn't it wonderful how well you sleep after a good day in the sun.

Yes, love the hat. Made much cuter with a baby under it. And I have the same bouncy chair, only mine has the taller frame and basket underneath.
