So, I think this knitting thing is getting out of hand. (Not that I have any intention, what so ever to stop it... ) It has developed from cute interest to ongoing distraction to, now, obsession. I can feel it moving into the full blown obsession stage quite quickly...
For example, am I strange that I can't stop staring at other peoples knitted sweaters, hats and mitts? Is that normal? I'm starting to think it might only be for other fiber folk. I now notice EVERYONE who is wearing knitted gear. I also quickly size them up and determine weather it is home made knit or store bought. Like, right now I am at work and there is one of my co-workers standing in the cubicle beside mine, she has a store bought sweater on. I have been sizing it up to decide if it was made well and if it is something I would want to make... I have decided it is too boring. Is this natural, I ask you again?
This realization was brought on because Jo is done... well there is still seaming that is left, but other than that, no more knitting. This has left me in a little bit of a state. I don't know what to do without a project! I now understand the need for a full blown stash! I am so disappointed that I only have a few small balls in my stash. It is more a meager collection of lost balls of yarn, not nearly a proper stash.
I think I may have to knit a couple dish clothes tonight just to satisfy the itch. I'll maybe also work on the center square hat. I can't just sit and watch TV anymore. I need needles, needles... someone...
This is not good. This is going to get much worse before it gets better...

Beginning Knitter Mania - You've got it bad.
Don't worry it gets manageable with time. We've all been where you are. Most of us have developed the coping mechanisms to lead semi-normal lives. Others of us are consumed by the disease and never quite get over it.
Just make sure you treat your wrists and shoulders well to avoid injury. Proper posture in your early knitting life can save you much grief later on.
I am now stretching regularily, thanks...
I had to spread my obsessions around a bit (e.g. the spinning and the bellydancing) to cope. I still stare at people way too much. Totally normal.
Wait till you're caught in shops counting rows on the sweaters and taking photos with your cell phone....um...not that I've done that.....
Wow, that's funny - I'm exactly the same way. I do the whole "sizing up" of any and all knitted garments that enter my field of vision!
